i'm in a "rock 'n roll" hotel in hamburg just now. this bed is really creaky and low down, but the place is really fine and has loads of character. a 1950s crooner is filtering up from the downstairs bar and elvis's face appears on the door to the shower. last night's gig in hamburg went very well; both paul and i really enjoyed playing too and it was a very good club. the people i spoke to after the gig were lovely and seemed to enjoy the show, so really pleased. today we're off to lubeck to play, but before that i must have a sausage, or possibly a hamburger. here's a few photos. this first one is in the hotel.
here's paul outside the hotel.
i like some of the art in the toilets in the german venues. these two are examples of this bog art.
finally, here's last night's gig poster. ah, suddenly very tired. better go and find some coffee!

this photo is of prestwick airport near glasgow where me and paul flew from on friday night. quite a lovely sunset. right now i'm in a flat in leipzig just relaxing a little with some darjeeling tea. we're off to play the first show tonight in halle which hopefully will go okay, though i'm always quite nervous before playing and i just bashed my head off a door frame! last night we went out to see a band called kyte playing in the venue we'll be at later - cafe panam. really nice looking place and tasty beer. i'm looking forward to playing there on thur. yesterday we wandered around the city and i found it a really interesting place, especially the architecture. it's strange to realise it was only relatively recently that this was in east germany. i bought two old east german notebooks in a shop which sold old east german goods.
anyway, here's a photo of me eating some quality whippy on a crisp, autumnal afternoon in leipzig. rock 'n roll.
paul and i are off to germany on friday so been really busy with preparation and clearing other things that need to be looked after when i'm away. i'm currently sipping a bavarian lager in anticipation.
why do we need to use our mobile phones on the subway? apparently we're going to be able to receive a signal on the glasgow subway in december. glasgow's is so tiny that surely people can just be without communications for five, ten or twenty minutes. i really dislike the noise of people talking on mobile phones on public transport. i love that it's not allowed in japan, to me that makes a lot of sense. people just text there, they don't have conversations. that's fine but not loud conversations please. i love to have a sauna sometimes and i find it really relaxing. it's almost like meditation to me; it allows me to think carefully and have some time to process thoughts. it's often ruined however by a guy who comes in and has the most boomy, loud voice and he's an expert on everything! grr. it drives me crazy. the next time he appears and starts talking to (lecturing) someone i'm going to whack him with a frying pan that i'll have hiden in a towel.
i won't really. i think a small saucepan would be just as good and easier to conceal. but then i could also take an egg in and cook it if i stuck to the frying pan idea. hmm. food for thought.
i might do a video blog at some point. but then again, i might not. i'll see.
good night :)
hello. here's a link to footprints live in tokyo from earlier in the year:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pPdnKLSENgi'm very sleepy. i've not had a productive day. do you ever hit 'random article' on wikipedia? it's fun. here's my last three:

Isotopes of technetium
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

searchTechnetium (Tc) is one of the two elements in the first 82 that have no stable
isotopes (in fact, it is the lowest-numbered element that is exclusively radioactive); the other such element is
promethium.
[1] The most stable
radioisotopes are 98Tc (
half-life of 4.2
Ma), 97Tc (half-life: 2.6 Ma) and 99Tc (half-life: 211.1
ka).
[2]Twenty-two other radioisotopes have been characterized with
atomic masses ranging from 87.933
u (88Tc) to 112.931 u (113Tc). Most of these have half-lives that are less than an hour; the exceptions are 93Tc (half-life: 2.75 hours), 94Tc (half-life: 4.883 hours), 95Tc (half-life: 20 hours), and 96Tc (half-life: 4.28 days).

searchNagua Fouad (
Arabic: نجوى فؤاد) (born
1943) is a noted
belly dancer.
Nagua was born in
Alexandria, to an Egyptian father and a Palestinian mother from
Nablus. Her parents went to
Jaffa, then the largest
Palestinian city, when she was three-months-old. There, she spent the first few years of her life. Her mother died a few months after Nagua was born and her father married another Palestinian woman, whom the young child loved as her mother and who was to become Nagua's only source of support in the difficult years ahead. In 1948, Zionist gangs blew up the Fuads' house. Nagua and her step-mother escaped Jaffa like many Palestinians by boat to Al-Arish in Egypt where they were reunited with Nagua's father who was visiting Alexandria at the time.
[how about coffee and cake? tea and cake is good too. i always think of the film 'withnail and i' when i say that. there's a little eaterie in the west end of glasgow called vienna and they do really tasty cakes and lovely coffee. i always moan about getting served tepid coffee in this city, but this place does it properly! i think coffee and cake will replace pints and nobby's nuts for me for a little while. the latter is making me sleepy and allows wikipedia to get a hold of me.
germany beckons. i'm going with paul and he's already out there, scouting for sausages. nah, he's really out playing some gigs with his band - doghouse roses - and will come back for a bit then head out with me. i'm looking forward to it. let's hit 'random article' one more time, see what else i can learn today. here we go.... wow, how coincidental!
