hello:) well on friday night chris and i played three acoustic songs as part of a lovely evening to raise funds for one of glasgow's most romantic and historical buildings - the panopticon theatre, abandoned for 80 years or so and still more or less intact. it's where stan laurel famously made his stage debut! the place was fantastic and i really hope it can get some money to be renovated. it's steeped in history and is apparently haunted! also, chris was telling me that in the basement of the building there was a zoo and a gorilla escaped and ran down the street outside until it was shot. poor bugger. this was around 1900 or so. wild. anyway, this was the first time that i'd played live for quite a few months (since december in fact) and i was a little bit scared, even thought we did only three songs (the toothbrush song, i think i'm bleeding and old friend). here are a couple of photos:)

i'm playing a solo acoustic show to warm up for japan tomorrow night in glasgow. i'd better go and rehearse now actually. oh, before i do, have a look at this photo below. i re-created edvard munch's famous work 'the scream' using a garlic and coriander naan and a mini scotch egg.
it's like cherry blossom season in japan right here in glasgow:) well, maybe not:P

speaking of cherry blossoms, how great is 'cherry blossom girl' by the french band air. i love that song. i was listening to it today as i was walking. i love air. i think moon safari is actually one of my favourite albums. i never tire of it.
i had a good practice today playing harmonica and guitar. i'm finding it tough to get in a good position where i can play the harmonica then immediately sing after it. sometimes i seem to misjudge the position i'm in and i'm too low to reach the harmonica or too far away from the mic. it's stressful! well, i'll see how i get on. if i am feeling too uncomfortable then i'll forget the harmonica for these upcoming solo gigs. but i'll keep trying:P
tomorrow i have a recording day with davie scott. i can't wait. i'll be doing some harmonies i think and seeing how the album is sounding with fresh ears.
