Ananova:
Hasselhoff claims he had hand in Berlin Wall falling
David Hasselhoff has complained to museum curators after finding his photo absent in a collection of memorabilia about the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The actor and producer, who says he is working on a film version of TV series Knight Rider, claims he is partly responsible for the fall of the concrete divide.
Speaking to German magazine TV Spielfilm, Hasselhoff said in 1989, the year the wall fell, he had helped reunite the country by singing his song 'Looking for Freedom' among millions of German fans at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.
He said he felt he had moved people on both sides of the wall, although he admitted hardly any of the East Germans could speak English. He said: "I find it a bit sad that there is no photo of me hanging on the walls in the Berlin Museum at Check-Point Charlie.
"After my appearance I hacked away at pieces of the wall that had the black, red and yellow colours of the German flag on it. I kept the big piece for myself and gave the smaller pieces to colleagues at Baywatch."
Hasselhoff said he doesn't mind that Americans make fun of his popularity in Germany and says he feels it is his second homeland.
He said: "Many Americans joke about my popularity in Germany. But they have no idea how beautiful Europe is and how rich it is in culture and fun and warmth and children. In Germany children have brought me thousands of flowers."

is weather 'news'? weather is weather, it's winter therefore it might snow! see, i was watching the news on tv last night and the reporter was standing in the middle of a street that had some....wait for it......snow! the newscaster excitedly went live to this guy and his advice was to carry a mobile coz 'you'll be more contactable, be safe' or some such rubbish. his voice resonated with well constructed panic as if he was reporting on the dawn of a new ice age or the possible impact of a meteor strike after holby city. since when was weather big news!? it used to snow much more when i was growing up, i'm sure it did. i remember one summer recently that i spent on the east coast of america and the news stations were positively obsessed with weather. basically it was hot, there was something of a heatwave across the east coast. god forbid that it was hot in summer. even the top story, usually involving a filmed police chase was bumped while we went live to chuck hosinberry or whatever standing in blazing sunshine, whipping the masses into a frenzy about what they should do. like drinking more water, taking shelter from the sun. fascinating, thanks for that chuck. britain's news coverage is definitely heading that way, much like that arctic front that's sweeping from the north east and due to hit glasgow later today. oh the drama. better go and stock up on some tins of macaroni cheese....
whisky ain't no friend of mine....i can still taste it from saturday night. not good. oh, i wrote a song last night. it's very short, almost half a song or something, but i quite like it. i haven't been picking the guitar up that much recently but when i do it feels like something special might happen as was the case late last night. i love when that happens.. i'm still not sure what to call my album. i'm going to have some news about that soon but i don't want to tempt fate by speaking about it before it's all sorted out. there will be some new news in the news section soon if that makes sense. i'm a bit funny like that, about not announcing things until i think they're definite. anyway, i still have to come up with a title for this record. i've got a few ideas but not one i've definitely plumped for. 'plumped', what a great word. one of my fav album titles of recent times was
'many visitors have been gored by buffalo' by the glasgow band old solar aka andrew and mark. i always liked that title. mark told me once it was on a sign in minnesota and it stuck in his mind. hmmmm, i need to give this some serious thought.
i think i'll go and read 'the magic faraway tree' by enid blyton now. i've not read it since i was a child and i think that this particular series of books influenced me more than i'll ever know. i believed every word, i was very gullible/naive/stupid as a kid. delete as you see fit.
i like the new snow patrol single, i'm not sure what it's called, but it's good i reckon. i think it might be called 'run'. the delays single is good too. lots of good music around, good scottish music too...like i wanna get the alasdair roberts record 'farewell sorrow'. franz ferdinand are looking like they might go into the charts at number two which is great not only coz it's a good single but also coz sane people are tired of the crap that dominates the singles market/radio playlists. but good on franz ferdinand, they'll be there squeezed up with pap idol michelle whateverhernameis at number one. belle and sebastian are out in japan and south america soon, the bmx bandits are back with a great album after all these years, the pearlfishers and camera obscura albums are great and i'm looking forward to seeing the mars hotel again soon...basically there's just lots of good local bands/songwriters kicking about glasgow and edinbugh struggling to put out their own records and yet the scottish parliament want to honour or formally recognise michelle pop idol's 'achievement'. what achievement? being the product of a backlash against identikit and soul-less plastic pop wannabes? having x amount of grannies and the socially infirm being brainwashed into thinking karaoke is the best we have to offer in 2004 and going out and buying the single in woolworths? agh!
in other news, i found a small piece of lorne sausage stuck under the spacebar of my keyboard. not a pleasant sight. i've also completed a song i like alot called 'i wish that i' and i still can't find out how to compress the size of the video that i've made. until i do it's stuck in my friend's computer, never to see the light. that would be a shame. hopefully a solution will be forthcoming coz i'm still trying to learn about these things.
well happy new year.
"was santa good to you?" god, how many times have you heard that?! it's deeply deeply annoying. whenever people are asked 'did you have a good one' referring to christmas, most people say 'not bad, quite quiet'. i gaurantee you. everyone's thinking ahead to spring, to pleasant events in their future to help them get through having no money in january and the dark nights. we're all just trying to cope with now rather than dwelling on what excess has just been.
for me my new year was on saturday night, at the gig. i thoroughly enjoyed playing, i enjoyed scribbling an 'X' on people's hands with a permanent marker on the way in (oh if you were at the gig and it's still not come off then sue sleazies, not me please). it was fun doing it that way. it was a great crowd too and it was interesting to stick some unheard songs in the slightly longer than usual set. the art school afterwards was good too, the new 'insomnia' for a full breakfast after that wasn't as much fun although i managed to sell a vinyl record at that and it wasn't coz they'd run out of plates. plans are important sometimes, having some structure is required sometimes after periods of drifting. i don't really have that at the moment and i think i'm craving it after drifting through december and into the new year. it would be nice just for a little while but then i'd probably want to unravel it and reintroduce a bit of chaos to keep things interesting, who am i kidding. i think i'll have some chocolate now. you know the festive season is over when all you're left with is a finger of fudge.
